Kent was born and raised in Arkansas City, Kansas. He currently resides on an over 100-year-old family farm.

He graduated from Arkansas City High School in 1981 and graduated Oklahoma State University in 1985 with a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Economics and Double Majored in Accounting.

He has been involved in agriculture and farming all his life.

He is currently employed at RCB Bank as Vice President Lending and has worked in the banking industry for 20 years.
